At Hines Valley Farm we grow vegetables of superb taste; sell locally to keep our produce fresh; and farm according to USDA organic rules in order to minimize environmental harm.
Please visit and shop, Saturdays 9-2 at Market Square* in downtown Knoxville.
Market Square Farmers Market
Produce this week:
Arugula; red or green leaf lettuces; many varieties of eggplant; sweet dumpling, or miniature butternut squashes; a tan pumpking that tastes like an excellent squash; bell peppers, with some hungarian hot or jalapenos; curly, red, or lacinato kales; collards; chard; green beans; orange, white, or purple sweet potatoes; broccoli; red or green okra; savoy cabbage.
The Hines Valley Farm on facebook has nothing to do with me! It is instead a development group trying to sell land.
I have learned that many assume that all market farmers sell organic produce. This assumption is false. The majority of growers in the Knoxville markets are conventional. My USDA organic status is verified by independent inspection. Some farmers operate under the "certified naturally grown" standard similar to USDA organic: this regime is self-policed by member growers. Please see organic farming for details.
*Market Square lies between Walnut, Wall, S. Gay, and Union streets downtown.
